Michael A. Golden

Senior Vice President

Michael is Senior Vice President of SES ESOP Strategies. After nearly 20 years of employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) financing and banking experience he has developed more than $1 Billion in employee-owned private companies through structuring and securing financing for middle market corporate transactions.

He has managed strategic, financial, marketing and operational issues across the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Michael has served as CFO of a technology and public policy company, managing the capital stack as well as the consulting practice in leading the Company to its first year of profitability, interim Director of Finance of a private foundation and consulted on a variety of management and organizational issues. He also has served as a bank officer at Shorebank, a Chicago-based community development bank with a national reputation, managing strategic, financial, and operational projects for the bank and its Holding Company, including analyzing and devising replacement strategy for multiple branching expansions, creating and implementing its first retail marketing strategy, and leading a turn-around restructuring of its national IT area by designing and implementing a platform for multi-state growth. When Michael joined the bank, it had less than $150 Million in assets, and when he left it had more than $1 Billion in assets and related entities in five other states.

Michael has served nonprofits and the public sector in a variety of positions including Board Service. He served as an elected Borough Councilor for 20 years, founded several municipal nonprofit economic development organizations and served on county boards related to county development strategy and “green” energy and cost savings policies. He currently serves on the non-profit Private Directors Association’s national ESOP committee, the private sector Econsult Corporation on the Senior Advisor Board, and on the public sector Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority’s Loan committee, among other service.

Michael is accredited in Private Company Governance from the Private Directors Association and serves on the group’s national ESOP Committee. He has won various awards, including The ESOP Association’s Professional Member of the Year.
